There
are two finishes I use.
Tung Oil:
This
is a food safe oil that brings out the depth of hardwoods.
I use it on my cutting
boards as well as on any other piece.
Although it is not
as durable over time it is very easy to maintain as well as revitalize.
Wash and towel dry after use.
No soaking.
No dishwater.
For
luster simply rub on and wipe off any food safe oil such as Tung
oil.
Rock hard finish:
This
is a highly polymerized oil/urethane blend that penetrates
and seals the wood.
I
recommend this finish for almost all my pieces as it is very
durable and resistant to water and alcohol.
It is buffed
to high or low gloss and is wonderfully soft to the touch. Wash
with soapy water and buff with a waxy cleaner.
